Salvador Jimenez Murguia, Ph.D.University of California, Santa Barbara Professor Murguia has recently completed his Ph.D. in the area of Sociology of Religion with an emphasis in Global Studies. His areas of interest include deviant behavior, ethnography, new religious movements, symbolic interaction, culture, conspiracies, and globalization. In addition to these research interests, Murguia has taught Sociology 100: Introduction to Sociology, Sociology 301: Principles of Sociology, Sociology 354: Deviant Behavior, Sociology 360: Social Psychology, Sociology 380: Sociology of Religion and a Sociology 590 Seminar entitled “Global Conspiracies”. He has recently published an article in Epoché: The University of California Journal for the Study of Religion and a book review in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion. His work in progress focuses on members of a Japanese new religious movement that are awaiting the arrival of a flying saucer. |
