The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce the annual Dr. Dominic Bulgarella Award for the best student papers in Sociology and Human Services. Dr. Bulgarella was a member of the CSUSB Sociology Department from 1969 to 1993. Shortly after his retirement, Dr. Bulgarella passed away. In his honor, the department has established an award for the two best papers submitted by Sociology or Human Services major who are graduating with departmental honors in AY 2007-08.
Requirements:
- Students must be eligible for graduation in December 2007 or June 2008 with honors in their major;
- Submit to the Sociology Department office a typed copy of either an empirical or theoretical paper that was previously submitted for a Sociology course at CSUSB (please submit a clean copy of the paper without instructor comments or grade awarded);
- Submit only one paper, not to exceed 20 pages in length, typed with appropriate references included, for review by the Awards Committee;
- Complete a brief cover application, available in the Sociology Department office, to be submitted along with the paper;
All papers are due in the Sociology Department office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29; no late papers will be accepted.
Awards:
- $300 award for paper judged to be the best paper submitted.
- $150 award for paper judged to be the runner-up.
- Awards will be to be announced at the Annual College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Awards Ceremonies.
Any questions concerning the Dr. Dominic Bulgarella Awards should be directed to a faculty member in the Sociology Department. Application forms can be obtained from the Sociology Department office (SB-327; 537 5541) or on the department website.
